Good Earning Potential: Skilled plumbers, especially master plumbers or business owners, earn well above average wages.
Low Student Debt: You learn through vocational training and paid apprenticeships ("earn while you learn"), avoiding heavy student loan debt.
Career Independence: Once qualified, you can work for a company or start your own independent plumbing contracting business.
What we’re looking for
Basic Qualifications:Must have obtained NVQ Level 4 or higher qualification in the relevant field from a technical or vocational training institute recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC).
Other Qualifications:Minimum 03 years of experience in laying, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in buildings, high-rises, or commercial premises. Practical knowledge in maintaining water supply systems, drainage systems, pumps, water storage tanks, and related equipment. Ability to serve when required for emergency repair work
What you can expect
- Excellent Job Security
Plumbing is a recession-proof and AI-proof profession. People will always need clean running water, working toilets, and functional drainage systems. Technology and automation cannot physically climb under a sink to fix a burst pipe or install a complex bathroom network, ensuring long-term employment stability.
- Earn While You Learn (No Student Debt)
Unlike university degrees that leave graduates with thousands of dollars in student loans, plumbing uses an apprenticeship model.
You get paid an entry-level wage from day one while learning the trade on the job.
Your hands-on training is funded by working rather than paying for tuition.
- High Earning Potential
Skilled trades are currently facing a massive labor shortage worldwide, which drives wages up.
Once you move from an apprentice to a Journeyman or Master Plumber, your earning potential increases significantly.
Emergency plumbing services (like fixing middle-of-the-night leaks or main line backups) command high hourly rates or call-out fees.
- Entrepreneurship and Independence
Plumbing is one of the best trades for starting your own business.
Once you gain your license and experience, you can transition from an employee to a business owner.
Setting up your own independent contracting business gives you control over your schedule, clients, and income.
- Active Work and Variety
If you hate sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day, plumbing is a great alternative.
Every job is different—one day you are troubleshooting a complex commercial heating system, and the next you are designing custom fixtures for a new home build.
It keeps you physically active and solves real-world, tangible problems with your hands.
Never send money to an employer to apply for a job. Check the company and offer details carefully, especially for overseas work.
